Save the website as an app (PWA)

Bellamy Book is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it on your phone or computer and use it like a normal app: it opens in its own window, appears in your app list, and supports Web Push so you get chat and call notifications even when the app is closed or in the background.

Why install as an app?​

How to install (save as app)​

Android (Chrome or Edge)​

  1. Open Bellamy Book in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Tap the menu (⋮) in the top-right.
  3. Tap “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”.
  4. Confirm the name and tap Add or Install.
  5. The app icon appears on your home screen. Open it to use Bellamy Book like an app.
    Web Push: After opening the app, go to Settings → Notification and enable notifications to get chat and call alerts when the app is in the background.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)​

  1. Open Bellamy Book in Safari (Add to Home Screen does not work in Chrome on iOS).
  2. Tap the Share button (square with arrow).
  3. Scroll and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
  4. Edit the name if you want, then tap Add.
  5. The icon appears on your home screen. Open it to use the app in standalone mode.
    Web Push (iOS 16.4+): After opening the app, go to Settings → Notification and allow notifications. You will get chat and call alerts; on iOS, notification sound/vibration in background may be limited—keeping the app in the foreground gives the full incoming-call experience.

Windows (Chrome or Edge)​

  1. Open Bellamy Book in Chrome or Edge.
  2. In the address bar, click the install icon (⊕ or “App available”) or use the menu (⋮ → Apps → Install Bellamy Book).
  3. In the install dialog, click Install.
  4. The app opens in its own window and is added to the Start menu. You can pin it to the taskbar.
    Web Push: In the installed app, go to Settings → Notification and enable notifications to receive chat and call alerts when the window is minimized or closed.

macOS (Chrome or Edge)​

  1. Open Bellamy Book in Chrome or Edge.
  2. In the menu bar: Chrome/Edge → Install Bellamy Book… (or use the install icon in the address bar if shown).
  3. Click Install.
  4. The app is added to your Applications folder and Dock. Open it like any other app.
    Web Push: In the installed app, go to Settings → Notification and enable notifications.

macOS (Safari)​

Safari does not offer a full “Install app” flow like Chrome/Edge. For the best PWA + Web Push experience on Mac, use Chrome or Edge and install as above. If you use Safari, you can still use the site in the browser; Web Push support in Safari is more limited.

Enabling Web Push after installing​

To get chat and call notifications when the app is in the background or closed:

  1. Open Bellamy Book (from the installed app icon or in the browser).
  2. Log in.
  3. Go to Settings (profile menu) → Notification.
  4. In the Web Push (browser notifications) section, click Enable notifications.
  5. When the browser asks, allow notifications.
  6. Optionally click Send test notification to confirm that push works.

After this, you will receive notifications for new messages and incoming calls even when the app window is minimized or closed (and on mobile, when the app is in the background).
